Quarantining Negativity in The New Normal

Quarantining isn’t easy especially when you engage in negativity. Doom and gloom conversation is on the rise. It’s making us feel worse. It’s time to lock down our discouraging and depressing thoughts or quarantine negativity!

I’m excited to share a concept I read in the book “Factfulness” by Hans Rosling.  He says “Things can continue to be bad and also get better.”  How this happens is by focusing on what you have control over or YOU!

Get beyond negativity by tapping into your creativity and preparing for new “positive” possibilities.  Be a trail blazer by thinking outside the box and looking for the new opportunities that come during a crisis.  When one business or career goes away another one begins 🙂

You can control how you manage your thoughts and feelings. All feelings comfortable and uncomfortable need to be embraced.  Negative thoughts (I will never…) rarely come true. Stop being negative and observe how your mood improves. What helps me is to say… Stop!

The other thing you have control over is your environment and what you expose yourself to.  This includes what you read, watch on tv, podcasts you listen to and people you talk to.  The good news is these are all things you can change. For sustainable change begin with baby steps.

I have decreased my exposure to the news and negative people.  Our situation regarding Covid-19 is still bad and yet I feel better and more in control of my mental and emotional well being.  I’m noticing how much more alive I feel and the positive impact on my professional work.

The New Normal will be different from our current way of living.  How different we don’t know.  What we do know is personal power and fulfillment thrives when you refocus negativity on new possibilities.

Cheers to Being Positive about Possibilities!
