Adapt A Curious Mindset and Change Your Life!

Sitting on the edge of the unknown is stressful.  You don’t have control in that moment.  You can’t make something happen.  Adapting a curious mindset relieves worry and stress.  It calms you down and helps you think clearly and feel more confident.  It’s a life changer!

Clients come to me because they are worried about the future of their Career, Business or Life!  They are not in a curious mindset, but instead focused on fear inducing negative thoughts.  I help them refocus on a more realistic picture and realize they can handle whatever happens.

Curiosity is a powerful emotions management tool.  Get Curious and Get Calmer!  When looking for a new job or trying to reel in a new client it’s easy to get nervous.  By being curious you become a researcher.   You hypothesize or wonder rather than worry about what will happen.   It makes the waiting process way less stressful.

When you don’t know what will happen you fill in the blanks.  Better to have an answer (negative prediction) even if it makes you feel bad and isn’t true.  It’s human nature to protect yourself from emotional pain or in this case not knowing and not having control over when you will know.

An Example:

A client’s boss got promoted.  He was scared he would have to take over her position.  My client loved his current position as a clinician and had no desire to be a manager.  The organization was dragging their feet making a decision.   Rather than patiently waiting or Being Curious he made a negative prediction and decided he needed to start looking for another job.  He called me.

I introduced the idea of being curious and Jack took to it right away.  In minutes he felt better and didn’t feel the need to take action, at least not for the time being.  He was grateful for a new perspective and to know he has a better way to deal with worry in the future.

Try it for yourself and let me know how it goes.  I’m curious!
