After eight years it was time to take my website to the next level! I contacted my web developer and we got to work right away. She focused on the layout and visual side. I had to come up with new content and make sure it was easy to understand how I help my clients. The process was a little frustrating but mostly fun! I couldn’t wait to launch it. I was feeling excited and happy!
Now for the lemons part of the story. In the process of showing me how to post a new blog she pushed publish. Oh, no I thought to myself… I hope she didn’t publish “Test Title For New Blog Post”. Well that is exactly what happened and it went to everyone who signed up to receive “A Minute With MarGO”. Being the day before Thanksgiving I was crossing my fingers that very few people would see this mistake. Still I was very upset. She naturally felt bad and tried to help me feel better.
What I knew I needed to do was follow my motto “First Feel, Second Solve.” So I did some screaming and complaining and then called a friend to let off more steam. I was feeling very anxious and angry in that moment. My boyfriend was watching and waiting for me to calm down so he could offer some solutions. He is a great problem solver.
The idea for this post was created when my web developer made a suggestion and got my creative juices flowing. Soon I wasn’t upset at all but instead super excited about turning lemons into lemonade by sharing a success story.
Later the same day my work emails stopped coming through. Instead of freaking out I focused on a positive thought… technical problems are always fixable. My customer support agent at Bluehost was very helpful and even made me laugh. I kept thinking how lucky I was to attract these extremely helpful and supportive people. Maybe it’s because like attracts like 🙂
This week my website went live. I hope you will check it out. It’s very simple without any bells and whistles, but hopefully useful for learning from my blog posts and being able to better understand what I do.
