Differently Abled and A New Perspective

Recently I was in India.  I saw a sign, “Differently Abled” and smiled to myself.   How cool is that?!  I sensed a positive perspective on a tough topic.  My mind and heart were wide open as I hoped to return home having renewed energy and enthusiasm for becoming more!

As a Business and Life Coach, I help people better utilize their best abilities and attributes while appreciating and accepting the areas where they are less abled!  Some say “from strength to strength!” Another perspective is “you can only do what you can do”

With a little research, I learned that differently-abled is about abilities, not disabilities.  It means that someone possesses a unique set of abilities and perspectives too.  I call this widening the lens for a panoramic view.  There are always more possibilities to consider.

Physical, mental and emotional challenges are part of life.  I see them as opportunities for personal and professional growth.  What you believe about yourself determines your level of confidence.  Confidence is a core component of contentment and fulfillment.  Embracing what you love about yourself will lead you to love more about yourself and others too!

A new perspective is powerful.  It impacts your insights and interactions.  While visiting in India I realized that  caring about others as much as yourself protects you from feeling insecure and isolated.  Connecting and caring are essential for personal, business and career satisfaction.  We have a lot to learn from other cultures and customs.

You don’t have to go to India to gain a new perspective.  Spend some time with people you don’t normally hang out with.  Go to a library, restaurant or coffee shop in an area of town you don’t normally go to.  Make sure the people are “not” like you.

I’m even more enthused and excited about my mission (helping people have a better life than they ever imagined was possible) since taking a few weeks off.  It was my first time being away from my business for more than 10 days.  Finally, walking the talk!

Cheers to New Experiences and Perspectives!
