Beware!!! Dating can be dangerous! Watch out for Warning Signs.
**This post is primarily for those who want a serious or long term committed relationship
Common Warning Signs When Dating:
1. Lack of communication: If your partner doesn’t communicate with you consistently or avoids discussions about the future of the relationship, it could be a warning sign that they are not interested in a serious commitment.
2. Controlling behavior: If your partner tries to get you to do or look the way they like (change or mold you) it could be a warning sign of a potentially “emotionally” abusive relationship. This does not mean that you like everything about each other. Acceptance is an absolute!
3. Dishonesty: If you catch your partner lying or withholding the truth, this is a warning sign that they are not trustworthy. Sometimes the truth is withheld until they aren’t afraid of being rejected or trust that the other person loves them in spite of their shortcomings.
4. Disrespectful behavior: If your partner is consistently disrespectful (puts you down) or doesn’t care about what you think, this is a warning sign for an emotionally abusive relationship. I call this narcissistic behavior. Don’t proceed!
5. Incompatibility: If you and your partner have different values (what’s most important to you) or goals (having children, living in the country, traveling…) it could be a warning sign that the relationship may not be sustainable long-term.
6. Jealousy and possessiveness: If your partner is constantly jealous or possessive, it could be a warning sign of an unhealthy dynamic. It’s not a good idea to enter into a relationship with low self esteem or self worth.
7. Lack of effort: If your partner is not making an effort to spend time with you or prioritize the relationship, it could be a warning sign that they are not invested or want a more casual relationship.
It’s important to pay attention to these warning signs and address them with your partner. If they are unwilling to work on the issues or the behavior continues, it’s time to re-evaluate the relationship and most likely end it. A good relationship requires a commitment to self care or self love and making sure your partner feels loved and appreciated.
