No More Negative Thinking… No Way! It’s impossible to ban negative thoughts. They will find their way in whether you like it or not. Accepting this reality is the first step towards “Less” negative thinking.
As a Licensed Counselor, Business and Career Coach, I help my clients refocus on the bigger picture and positives! When you are in a rut or feeling stuck take stock of your attributes and accomplishments. Make a list of positive thoughts (“I can have a fulfilling work life”) and treat it like a mantra!
Negative thoughts tend to include words like never or always. I’ll never be able to retire or I’ll always have to work. I’ll never love my job or I’ll always dislike it. You are expecting a negative outcome. And you know what? It usually happens just as you expect. You are powerful!
How do you shift you’re thinking from negative to positive? Start with three slow deep breaths. Negative thinking is stressful. It impacts your overall well being. Another choice is to call a good friend. Ask them to share some positive statements about you. Believe what they say 🙂
A “great” life can’t tolerate too much negative thinking. Stay tuned into yourself so you will notice negative thinking. I recommend taking time every day for reflection. Even five minutes is fine. Protect your list of positives and make them a priority. The Power of Positive Thinking!
